Lambda guage
« on: August 23, 2008, 01:49:55 pm »
Hi folks

I'm in the process of converting from carbs to TB's, just started it up on the carbs to see what the lambda looked like but it stays at 0.60 as though the guage isn't recognising it, do I need to wait for the engine to get up to normal opperating temp or should it show from the start?

It came pre calibrated from Rob at 20 degc, my settings are

Heater PID ri target 150
Heater KP 70
KI 16
KD 26
PID intergral limit 128

Pump PID 133
KP 21
KI 78
KD 0
PID intergral limit 132

WB02 edgetime correction 186
edgetime min 80
Ri confidence scale 128

Pump zero pw 103
WB02 calibration constant 206
Warmup ramp 507.2
warmup abs limit 228
max time 41.9
fallback 176
retry after 24

Thanks

Alex

ps the figures match those suggested on the wideband calibration guide & the WB02 figures for nernst_target, pump_zero & free air calibration are as per VEMS basic calibration sheet that my unit came with.

I've also tried it within the terminal program, it doesn't list the heater as "off" as stated on the user guide, I stil typed "Manmde02" to turn it on and after typing "mll" and refreshing the info a few times I start to get figures for AFR coming through but nothing against 02% as expected. The figures for AFR are around 13.6 with the engine off.
Wondering If I've got something wired up wrong....

It will often read very low if there +12v feed is not connected.
It takes about a minute for the sensor to get up to temperature - if you type mlp07 and mll you will see a hex value next to the heater value that will count up (each time you press mll) and then bounce around, then you can type mlp02 to change page where the information is slightly more informative.  Make sure that the sensor is heated and working properly before it sits in the exhaust as the sensor will get killed quickly if its not.

Thanks Rob, I'll get it out of the exhaust & have a play after lunch and see what happens.

Took the Lambda sensor out of the exhaust & it warmed up and gave an 02 reading of 20.9  :)

I don't think I gave it long enough to warm up when the engine was running as I didn't want to risk damaging it. Not sure why I got an AFR reading yesterday and not an 02 one???

Anyway its now working so TB's will be put on this afternoon and hopefully I can get it running & start tuning.

Cheers

Alex
