For some reason best know only to themselves the people who manufacture and sell VEMS have decided to disable the button in software.
To change the mode you need to connect to a computer via serial port and set the configuration you require using the MegaTune software.

Chris, I know exactly what you're saying mate, and I am furious that they've taken it on themselves to do this without bothering to tell the people doing support that they'd done it.   I'm pretty much done with the whole VEMS project, the only reason I'm still on this forum is because I dont want to let people down.

Well, I'm not sure!  But here's how I'd try it...
First off we need to be using: http://www.vems.hu/download/round/round_2008-02-12.zip
Open MegaTune and setup the communication using the instructions in the User Guide http://www.vems.co.uk/VEMSWB/UserGuide/README.html

From the menu select Settings->Analog Input Settings and in the Button threshold (default: 128) 0:disable change   make sure that the value is greater than 128

No wonder the guy i sold a gauge too, cant get it to work ,

I´m really sorry to hear this, this is really bad news,
I must also say that there is a problem with the lacking of info..

The "shit" is, that i have just gotten a new vems, that i´m going to install in a 99´ Impreza, starting this week,
So i can really use the great support that are on this forum, as this ecu is going to be the reference ecu on the Impreza, meaning the one that we will work hard on getting working with the trigger signals

I have lately been reading up on the LinkECU , that i used to use for Impreza´s, and the new G3 have all the fascilitys that i need, and miss in the Vems, like support for Subaru AVCS, and its working straight out hte box, with a manual included when you buy it!

Well I'm at King Of Europe this weekend to see how Cristell Racing's Beast gets on, hopefully should run in the high to mid 7seconds...

I'll check back when I can.

I had same problem and today tried to change the button threshold value, the value was 255 and button did not work, changing the display at computer worked, but after gauge restart it was back at old value. Now I changed value from 255 to 128 and it works :) Now stays that display what I saved and button also works.
