Trigger problems
« on: June 07, 2008, 04:14:59 pm »
Hy I'm guite new to vems and there are some things I dont understand. In de main display from Megatune you shout be able to see the rpm when cranking without coils in the head 300rpm????

I've read and tryed a lot before asking this.

I've bouth an unessembled 3.3. (allreaddy regrets) I want an 1st vr and 2nd hall trigger setup. In some step Bij step guide's it is said that the 3.3 schoud not have the r30, mine did. The d14 seems to be somewhere else then 3.2. I've shorted sj6 and bridged jp2 and jp7. I've tried both polaraties with and without r30 and there's no rpm???

When I simply follow the leads from jp2 all seems to lead to a dead end. But I do measure 10k resistance between jp2 and the an d14 lookalike neer the trigger chip.

Help me please before I start drooling and really lose it. ??? :'( :P

Hi,
You should be able to get an RPM signal with just power, ground and VR sensor connected.
Have you got the VR sensor wires on the right way round?
What trigger pattern is the reluctor? 36-1, 60-2, ???
Have you configured it correctly in MT?
I bought a kit form VEMS and didn't have any problem with RPM signal.
I take it you've built it up as per the build guide?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

The flywheel is 60-2 I hope that the MT is setup correctly. The only build guide I can find are the step bij step guides and a manuel on internet that say TODO wherever it start to get interresting. I' think the polarity is correct 1+ 2- and 3schield on connector. 1 and 2 switched dosn't work either.

Hi,
What car/engine is this by the way?
Where did you get the information from that you put into the trigger wheel settings? Was it from a working setup of a simliar engine?
Try using this to give you your settings...
http://koabi.lazyslacker.com/VEMS/cranktriggers.php

Can you post up your MSQ file please?
You could try using the signalgen program in your Firmware tools folder. This needs to be run in a DOS window and you connect the VR input of VEMs to the sound card. This will then tell you if the VEMs is working or not.
Then we can go from there.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

It's a Peugeot 106 turbo-ed xsi engine. I have tried the trigger help and use the numbers. I really think its a hardware problem. Isn't there a place where I can find info on the 3.3. The r30 on the bourd for example. The wiki says its not soldered bij 3.3 bud mine was. When I remove it all copper leds seem to run to dead ends. Im not an electricion but that seem bad to me.

Hi,
Here's a link to the build guide I used, page 6 would be the place for you ;)

As for the MSQ file you'll need to host it somewhere then post up a link to it here..

The problem is solved.

I don't know why but is works now. Maybe I symply wasn't patient enouh. It takes about two sec for the rpm to show. Now 300 rpm at cranking without coils.

Thanks anyway
