hi all, here is the story so far.

i got the car back in oct 06' since then i have been playing, i have done all the normal things, removed cat, silencers, air box, and o'e fuel reg.

i have been able to get her from 165hp in standard trim to 180hp off nitrous and 230hp on,

i have a set of manifolds to fit (made my self  ;) ) however after fitting these i know the engine will be running lean at the top and rich at the bottom, (already is without them but not badly)

So i am now looking to get vems so i can carry on my quest to get 300hp at the front wheels of a rover V6

hi all.

so here we go with the install on my car:

first of all i am putting the ecu inside the orignal case, and using the orignal map sensor and as much of the wiring as possible.

so the first hurdle;

The fets, can they be off board? see Picture for the orignal location on the case (they were on the pcb but the vems is 1/3 of the size of the old pcb) there was 6 in one bracket and 3 in the other.

Next my map sensor is connected to the rest of the 5v feeds, i notice on the vems there is a 2.7K resistor between the 5V out and the tps supply.

Right my switched inlets they are controlled by 2 solenoids (pneumatic) they switch at 3200 and 3800 (keeps low end torque high with the cams it has oe) can these be driven from p259 ch6 and ch7? i'll get a resistance measurement tomorrow.

also in the docs it say the injector flyback has to have a wire to the injector + supply, however i have the resistors befor the injectors will this be a problem? as i'll be to add a wire from the supply to the ecu.

oh and is the wideband ready to plug in or do i need to add a fet as per docs?

The FETs can be mounted off the board if it allows better cooling - just make sure that your joints are connected well and that they are not under mechanical strain.

All the high current devices are in need of soldering, this means the FETs and IGBTs, so the Wideband FET needs putting in place too.

You can't decide on which outputs to use for the solenoids until you know the current they draw.

Flyback must go via the Transient Voltage Suppression diode direct from the board to the power supply - you mustnt have resistors in the way.

5V supply is correct, the TPS should be taken after that resistor.

ok fets/igbt's will be in the orignal places then

with the 5v supply could i just place a 2K7 res by the tps? to save rewiring the current looming.

so i take it the red arrow is not going to work for the flyback.

So theres one 5v feed to the main loom?  What else uses the 5V supply?

The flyback needs to go to the source of the injector's power supply - so that red arrow  is where it would be best placed.
But looking at HJ4 (back along the YB line) I see that the whole thing is powered by the EFI relay and that the YB line direct from C15 is effectively the same source - where does that wire go?

hello, the 5V supply currently feeds: ima sensor, expro sensor, pa sensor, egr sensor, ignition timming adjust sender, map sender and, tps, so only the map and tps will still be in the set-up on vems.

the wire goes from the left of HJ4 to the auto ecu -2 wires (not on my car) and from the right the wire  goes to the ecu (switch'd 12V feed) the injectors and the eciv (idle control valve - not sure if i'm going to use it at it's pulsed single wire operation)

oh and  the inlet controls solenoids are 50ohms each, so i make that 250mA each.

Use the pin28 5V supply and keep an eye on the MAP signal - make sure that when the resistance goes low on TPS that the MAP reading does not fall.

Use the switched 12v feed for the flyback, you know its got a good connection, but make sure it goes on the car side of the 1A fuse to the PCB.

The P259 will be fine for 250mA operation, and I'd consider using the ECIV, we have all the required settings in the firmware to pulse it - they're a bugger to setup but thats the definition of car tuning really :D

I was going to use 12V feed for the main power supply to the vems, should i find another supply????

oh ok that will be nice, as i can then remove the wax extra air valve as it's failing anyway (i think) what setting do i need to add to the msq???
