Is there nowhere on the internet a map that is even remotely similar to your car,
and it is what btw?
what is the engine setup, compression, turbo or not, cam style, and so on

jago

It is a 1990 rover 827 fitted with a honda 2.7 v6 nasp, i have std compression of 9.0:1 and std cams, the exhaust manifolds are not standard nor is the inlet tract. oh and i have nitrous.

and alas not that i have found but it may have been done at some point. I know i am running 22degrees at idle. but from there i'm not sure how much to add and when.

22deg?
thatÃ,´s a bit high.

Have you double checked the timing compared to crank location?
give this a try,
http://rapidshare.com/files/106753138/Ignition_timing_konfigurator_opstartsmap_v106.xls.html
IÃ,´ve run it before and it showed a timing map close to what I had made.

it will atleast get you closer then now.

jago

yeah last time at the rolling road they altered the ignition timming pot from 15 degrees to 22 degrees (max the pot does before warning light on dash) i got 15bhp all over from it. oh and that was on v-power fuel only.

thank for the link i'll have a look.

Somehow I though you had gotten it running.
didnÃ,´t know it was using a altered base timing.

jago

no, not even assy'd the ecu yet. I'm still gathering information to assemble it and make the base map. i'm hoping to borrow a good strobe to get the orignal ignition timming out, unless theres a better way of getting it.

I got the timming out up to 5.5k measured it 3 times between idle and 1000 to make sure.

Here is my rpm /advance (map not measured)
RPM -- advance
800 -- 18
1000 -- 33
1500 -- 33.5
2000 -- 36
2500 -- 33
3500 -- 31
4000 -- 30
5000 -- 35
5500 -- 40

Okay, so thats the timing when the engine is under no load.

You will find that the higher RPM stuff retards a fair amount when under load.

cool, by what amount tho? i take it would not be advisable to use anyone elses ign map, but could i use the map trend and use my base values?
