Primary Trigger VR,60-2 - errors
« on: November 10, 2007, 07:54:47 pm »
Ok....dont know where to start :) haveing this problem for a while, and cant get engine runing :(

Using primary trigger VR,R30 removed (today)

* Solder wire between JP2 (top row middle of the trigger jumper section) and JP7 (top row to the right)
Soldered when i assembled the board.

* The VR- lead MUST be connected CLOSE to Pin26 on the EC36 connector in this case.
Its near as possible...

* The VR+ lead is to be connected to Pin 27.
Connected

* Remove R30 (Usually works with R30 still there but if you experience problems you have to remove it. Found to the left of the trigger jumper section.)

Removed today, and that resulted with everything dead.I mean spark, rpm signal when cranking

Before i unsoldered R30 i had trigger errors glowing in megatune, and i had RPM loss while engine cranking,so its cranking and gets to 780 rpm than it loses rpms and goes to 0 for a second and then back on to 740...
....

Dont know what can cause this problems? I didnt chek the reversed VR polarity,i`ll chek it in the morning, but is there something else i should chek?
What is the value of R30,should i solder it back on?

I used VR shielded cable from an older version of motronic that has pickups at the flywheel (newer has VR at the crank and multytooth, that is what i`m running now),it has same wire colors (black, yellow and shield) so i connected the black to signal whithout cheking it....

Here is log:

Have you posted this on the Wiki too?  I know that the first thing people will suggest is to reverse the VR sensor polarity.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Switched polarity and everything is fine

Sorry for refresh an old topic but I have problem with car that I'm running on Vems. Patient is Opel V6 engine (series 60-2 trigger wheel with VR) running on 1.1.27 firmware.
At start I have problem with trigger error at cranking. Revers polarity of VR cancel this problem. When engine start, I have trigger error at 5500rpm (engine could not enter higher).
I put 2k series resistor on VR signal wire and now I can rev at 7000rpm. But owner of car want's rev limiter set to 7600.

What I do wrong?

PS. In second car with 60-2 trigger wheel I have tjis problem. Is it normal, that  I must write:
Angular width of tooth: 0
Angular width of missing tooth: 24
??
When I write "2" and "6" engine won't start.
Why?

did you remove pull up resistor?

No. It may be the cause?
Any pics with this pull-up?

And why in every engine with 60-2 I must write wrong angular width of tooth/mising tooth to run the engine? Why the correct one (2 and 6) didn't work?

That's the way it is with that firmware and bad megatune ini version. 24/4=6=360/60

So this situation does not cause errors trigger?

I remove pull-up resistor and it could not make any effect.
What's wrong?

From my experience pullup is not a real reason.Seems for me for first it is D14 Zener diode. It disturbs signal when it goes stronger with rpms and should be disconnected. It can be done by soldering out R55 or D14 itself.
If it helps just partly then just one option left - to switch off adaptive mode of LM1815. It can be done by connecting 5th leg to ground (there is place for solder blob).

hi and sorry for waking up such an old post  :-[

i'm doing a vr6 turbo with 60-2 trigger wheel and i'm having the exact same problem.. at 5500 to 6000 the car is hitting the rev limiter, i get trigger error (too many pr. trigger and less sec. trigger) also in the log file shows 25500rpm.. the same happens when i let it run without cam sync.. firmware is 1.2.38.

any infos?
thanks!

most possible you have wrong polarity on the trigger :)

i changed the polarity aswell, same problem :(

it is exactly like this:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?7107810-Primary-trigger-error-in-Vems#/topics/7107810?page=1

here it says that the trigger wheel was bent.. but it did run with oem ecu and with another ecu aswell.. we soldered 2k resistor into the signal cable, it got a bit better but the problem is still there

So this is probably a noise problem. You should scope the trigger signal. You may got some impulse noise from somewhere (ignition) Check the shields (sometimes it is better not to ground the shield on the Genboard but instead on a solid ground) and grounds or, to end, put a low pass filter (capacity + resistor). I had to done so onto my secondary trigger signal.
