p259 protection diodes
« on: October 28, 2015, 02:51:04 pm »
Hi, first of all i'm new within all of this so bare with me  8)

VEMS boardversion v3.8 and 6 IGBT + 2 Logic levels

I have been hooking up my VEMS and will soon be able to fire up the engine i believe. But i am unsure that everything i have done is correct, especially when it comes to protection of the ECU, the worst nightmare would be to fry the ECU, so please help me not do that  ;)

I'm worried about if i need to place some kind of protection diodes on the p259 channels. I have used "Pin 16 EC 36 P259 ch.1" as a electric fan controller. But i've been talking to a friend of mine, that i might need some diode to protect the ECU.

I've made these drawings :P

I use these relays : http://images.biltema.com/PAXToImageService.svc/article/xlarge/42302

Can someone tell me if i've done something wrong? And where i need to add protection diodes.

(Bonus question --> i use 875 cc Deka injectors high impedance, will i also need protection diode here?)

Kind regards, Mads.

you no need any protection diodes, if you have 3.8 you have all needed diodes in your ecu :)

i know you already show this in your diagram

but.

make sure you wire your power to the relays from a switched source or they will stay on when the ecu is off.

Thank you for heads up, this should be correct wired at the moment. But i found that when i'm cranking the engine, the ECU shuts down, because when the key is in turning position it loses its signal. So i need to find another wire as ECU power supply - Otherwise it will be rather hard to fire up the engine 8)
