Wideband gauge options for single sensor

Good Vems Community,

I did a little searching and had a hard time find any info so I fear that it is a rookie mistake and not desirable... is there a way to drive an aftermarket wideband controller (such as the AEM unit sitting on my shelf) with a signal from the sensor that is connected to my ECM?

Or is a 2nd sensor the best/ most logical answer?

Hello Ju1ce,

Sharing a wideband sensor between ECM and external gauge is not supported. For a narrow band sensor it will most likely work.

Thanks for the reply...yesterday I ordered the VEMS serial display (http://vems.us/round_disp).  In the future look for a post asking if I can run parallel serial connections to a laptop and the gauge...but will probably just take less time to make a cable and test when my gauge arrive

It can work as the gauge is just a reciever while the laptop and ecu are both recievers and transmitters.

this way you can also have bluetooth coms while having a round gauge wired as well.

Thanks for the heads up!  Gauge is scheduled to arrive on Saturday and new boost controller was installed last night...now if I can only get my laptop fixed between now and then....

this way you can also have bluetooth coms while having a round gauge wired as well.

The Gauge commands the ECU send in AIM data stream, where the laptop connection is not AIM but rather serial data.

BT + laptop might work though, have you tried this?

Haven't tried yet...new ssd HD for tuning laptop is still in the "capable hands" of the usps.

I will update this thread once tested...maybe Dave will chime in before I have a chance...

Hello Guys,

I'll try to clear things up:

Hardware wise

* on the display only round connect the RX and GND lines only
* tuning laptop and v3 should have all three connected.

Usage

* when VT is talking to v3, it will disable aim steam, but it will be re-enabled on ecu power cycle (or optionally from VT on closing), display only round will not show data (or perhaps bogus) when VT is connected
* when VT is not used, aim stream data will be interpreted by the display only round, it does not send data.

Well that is very cool... I might just have to try that (BT + AIM Gauge)

It would really be nice if the hardware/firmware guys activated the 2nd serial port in the ECU though
