VEMS in a 2002 Audi S8: canbus + OBD2 compatibility
« on: September 28, 2015, 08:38:01 pm »
Thinking of building an S8 into something more excessive (6speed, twin turbo with mutilfuel and lean burn for long cruises) and wondering if I can piggyback a VEMS for engine management and not mess up most of the OEM wiring and features, such as dash gauges, OBD2 etc.

Anybody got experience with this?

Yes, you can make that. Only problem is warning light(you need to connect to vems).
Also you need to share primary trigger sensor(vr). I usually use 100nF and 22kohm in series on both wires(+ and gnd).

Roight.  Thanks for that.  I'm now thinking about a 2.5 07k instead of the V8.  I think I can get the weight of a short wheelbase D2 down to 1700kg.
