Hi-side PFET Outputs
« on: September 06, 2015, 08:55:36 pm »
Hi
Need some info on the PFETS you can add to the vems unit.

I have ordered one unit with this option now and thought there would be more info about these outputs on the delivery but unfortunately no.
Searched the forum and the wiki but can't find any good info.

Question 1: How much nominal current is ok?

Q 2: Where is the Vcc supplied from?

Q3: Name/link of the PFET.

Thanx!

Hello Wersch,

With your ecu there are some papers they should annotate exactly where and how the pfets are connected (as well as other pinout/calibrations etc).
Did you ecu come without papers ?

Best regards, Dave

My ECU came included with the usual papers, and there was a note that PFETS were installed and i control them using 4 of the P259 outputs.
But no other information.
Please provide more info here about this Dave.

Thank You!

Hello Rickard,

Okay so the paper tells you to what pins the PFET outputs are connected; It is connected as follows -> p259 output as on paper is connected to pfet gate (control signal) -> pfets are fed from ec36-pin25, pfet output is connected to the corresponding p259 output pin (the normal internal connection from p259 to the ec36 output is disconnected).

I hope this clears things up for you; If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards, Dave

Dave I may confess that I do fully understand. Does it means that with the Hi-Side PFET Vems option, 6 MOSFET gates are added to the genboard?
Which means that these added gates are driven in internal  by the 6 "P259" channels (which are low current sources) and are using for output pins the normal 6 pins of the "P259" channels outputs?

Then it was built as i suspected just wanted to be clear about the power source.
We do need to put a bigger fuse on the power supply (pin 25) then normally.

Just one more question: How much current can the PFETS drive?

fphil: its only 4 pfets the other two p259 outputs are still there as usual.

Hello Rickard,

Just one more question: How much current can the PFETS drive?
Nominal current rating (per PFET output) is 10A. Above 5A inductive load, a BY399 flyback diode across the solenoid is recommended
