Hi,

ive recently converted my car to full efi.
the problem i am having right now is.

i cant seem to connect the ecu to my laptop.
it keeps saying no ecu detected.

i changed the com ports, the baud rate pretty much anything you can think of whit settings.

ive had my ecu replaced already.

ime using a usb serial cable whit the ftdpi chip.
whit the latest drivers on windows 8.1

ive tried looking up all things what it can be.

grounding etc

ime a bit in lost since ime trying 2 months now already whit no progress.

i hope anyone has a clue to what it might be.

here 2 pictures from the car whats it about.

Few questions

Are you able to connect to the ecu on the bench?
Has your supplier been able to connect to the ecu on his bench?
Have you ever been able to connect to it?
Did you wire the ground wire for the Serial connection?

Hi gunni.

would you be willing to explain what you mean on the bench?

i got this ecu straight from vems as a replacement.

the previous ecu i had contact whit 2 or 3 times, i setup the tps and lambda, and when i tried to connect after it didnt work, i had than had to ship back the ecu to my supplier.

and now i have the brand new one from vems itself.

yes the ground for the serial is wired.

its on point 5 of the cable if ime correct. tx and rx on 2-3

gunni

By bench I mean away from your car on a desk for instance,

so power to 12v and ground all the grounds to a battery for instance, then connect to the ECU via serial.

neviu

i will try that i will let you know how it whent.

thanks.

hi gunny.

we got the ecu working since today! finaly!!  ;D

we got the tps and lambda setup.

problem we are facing right now is.

no ignition.

it has fuel it has spark.

we had to change the fire order to the right one as it was setup wrong for some reason.
is there anything i can check to what i might need to change??

i will probaly go to the vems installer over here in the next couple weeks to get everything sorted out.
but having it started before that woudl be nice

gunni

Spark and ignition are the same thing.

So you say it has spark at the spark plug and it has fuel going into the cylinders and you are certain of this?

That can only really mean that your injected amount is not right or the timing of the spark is not right, have you checked ignition timing with a timing light?

neviu

sorry for the late answer gunni.

we found out the problem.

we made a stupid mistake whit the trigger wheel,

we dit the tooths the wrong way around  :-[

fixing it this weekend.

anyway cheers for you trying to help!!

neviu

another question i have.

we can start the car now.

but we cant keep it running idle if we let loose the of pedal, the car directly stalls.

some one said the timing in vems settings could of be off?

if we can get the car to idle, i can get it of to the tuner.  ;)

gunni

Might want to check if your lambda is good, and have you double checked that ignition timing is correct?
Certainly you are at a stage that you need tuning and its not uncommon for the engine to not run right away without tweaking,

Migth be worth doing a log and report in Vemstune and see if someone can have a quick look while you try and keep the engine running with your throttle pedal.

gunni

Few items to test and log while testing

Are you able to keep throttle higher for a while?
Does your idle control valve actually open and close with idle duty cycle changes?
Can you get it to idle from cold too warm even though you have to hold the throttle a 1.2%?
Try and drive the car while logging

Its best to keep everything in one log file so just press LOG and check everything I mentioned.

What size are your injectors and engine size? what fuel pressure are you running?

cheers gunni,

i will be doing them when i got the time!

ime running 577cc injectors at 3 bar, but ime running them at 4 bar so that should make them 666,7 right?
and the req fuel should be 6, but in my feeling 6 was a bit to much.

engine is 4970 CC. v8

i cant drive the car. i dont have plates on this car yet.

i would get back to you asap.

thanks for taking the time
