Vacuum solenoid on P259. Did i damage something?
« on: May 31, 2015, 01:54:49 pm »
Hello!

I use a big vacuum solenoid to control a exhaust cutout.

I connected it on P259 channel 1. I also have my shift light (3 leds) on a P259 channel. But now when the vacuum solenoid turns off I see the led's from my shiftlight flash and lost connection with VEMS tune.

I now know its from the voltage spike the vacuum solenoid generates when closing. I should have used a injector output whit flyback right?

The car runs fine and I can still connect to vems tune. But I'm worried I might have damaged something? Is it possible to damage something and can how/what can I check for damage?

Tanks!  :-\

Gee, ever read a manual? P259 outputs are very weak and you always need to verify the resistance (and calculating the current needs) before connecting anything to it.

Any solenoid is too big for P259.
