When asking for technical help at the very least let us know the version of firmware you are running.

You need to export the log to csv format. It's in the VemsTune tools menu.

Then it will fail to import into VirtualDyno because of the comments at the top of the file. This is kind of stupid, but I just tested it and seems to be the case.

If you open the csv in notepad++ or something and delete the commented out lines, then save the csv. It will now import into VirtualDyno.

We could just implement this into Vemstune?

I downloaded Virtual Dyno to give a try. I was unable to load a csv file even after having deleted the first comment lines, set up the Virtual Dyno option names or renamed the columns eg. TP for "Throttle Position".
I did not find any help about the .csv columns names and format. Too much.

I would suggest contacting the developer, his program has a report function (please submit an unmodified exported cvs log from VT with recent firmware); He states VEMS is supported, it seems there is a glitch somewhere :)

I have sent him a report wirh a log, but i Cant find a contact for him, so i Cant gear anything back when doing it ,

It works with older logs that i have made before with older firmware , but not anymore

Will see if there Will come a Update on the virtualdyno later

If you know a workable VirtualDyno .csv format, it is not a problem to make a python routine to filter the vemslog.csv file

peter_jensen

I talked to Brad Barnhill years ago and he will be glad to make the vems log working he said: “I could write an interface to import vems logs if I knew the format of the binary file”

Dave maybe you know the answer and could help Brad.
I have his email if nedded

tnx
Peter

Hello Peter,

The format of the binary file is not so easy to decode its not a fixed realtime format inside, but rather there are differences between firmware versions; the exported CSV file is portable (and colums can be used defined with some simple text editor (ini editing) and it would make much more sense to have Brad focus on those).

I have no idea what the difference is between the old working and new non working CSV format as far as a i know we did not make any changes to the exported CSV colums, perhaps someone could post a working and a non working log for me to review ?

I just converted a 1.2.30 log file I took last Monday to CSV (VemsTune 2014-11-06 version).

I tried the import to Virtual Dyno, it got the famous error that says time, rpm, or TPS is missing from the log.

I used notepad++ to remove the comments at the top so the first line is Time     SecL    RPM  MAP TP lambda................... and after that each line is data.

VirtualDyno imported it just fine after that.

I gave another try with success. I previously let a blank line on the top before the columns names.

VEMS

Success here also after removing the comments and blank lines. Does it work for you also now Skassa ? If not please provide a link to a sharing report containing your logs, i'll take look.

Best regards, Dave
