Fuel pump ignores shutoff parameters

I have had this car running for some years now, and sometimes when I turned on the ignition, the fuel pump would ignore the parameter to shut off after 2 seconds of no engine cycles.

Now I have rewired the entire thing to a very meticulous degree and the fuel pump NEVER shuts off after 2 seconds of no engine cycles.

I have checked and re-done all grounds and so on and so forth.  I even put in a new p259 chip.  The fan trigger and manifold trigger are on p259 and working.  I have moved the fuel pump trigger to a spare p259 and had the same problem.  Used a new relay for it....

What could cause this problem?

Move the fuel pump relay control to a free driver for ignition or fuel injection.

In fac don't use the P259 for relays, in my experience it can and will break regardless of grounding and circumstances.

Thanks, I tried to use a stepper out and the fuel pump would run on ign-on but then turn off when the engine ran(!)

I'm also having a problem where I can't calibrate my new Oxygen sensor because terminal quits working after successful Man command...


Could all of this be related to the Belkin USB/serial converter I'm using?  I notice that the fuel pump on p259 seems to act normal when my laptop is not plugged into the belkin cable converter.

Ok it seems like nothing works as it should when the laptop is hooked up to the VEMS with the belkin usb/serial dongle.  p250 channels seem to conflict or all run at the same time.  Stepper channel turns off when it should turn on. 

Is this normal?

I appreciate the need for that, but it is WAY too big of a change for me to deal with right now.  I am 7 years behind on update because the car just ran fine all that time and I need to nail down these simple things or determine if the board is fried.

Now, I have moved the fan and fuel pump to 7 amp output and they STILL do not behave correctly.  I may not have those FETS installed, it actually occurs to me.  Myt board is 8 years old I think. 

But I know I have a Stepper chip and they didn't work with that either.  Stupid question:  To run relays off the stepper, should I choose channel "i##" instead of channel ## ( no "i").

er, um, so are all of those outputs (stepper, 7amp) a negative (-) supply?

I suspect this problem (topic title) could be related to the Belkin USB/serial converter dongle being connected to the VEMS even though it isn't powered up from the USB side.  Will see soon...
