On the boost control side of things, do you definitely need to run a solenoid? The engine (SR20DET) I bought with VEMS installed is just running a vac pipe from the intercooler hot pipe to the actuator.
When I spoke to Rob he said "VEMS uses a boost map to make sure that the turbo is responding to demand," I presume this would be done via the MAP sensor on the intake manifold.
Gunni who mapped the car said "I´m not sure we ran boost control on that car. Just the spring in the wastegate.
You can run any boost solenoid you like as long as it´s ON/OFF type PWM solenoid (99% of all solenoids).
You can then connect one side of the solenoid to 12V and the other to one of the available outputs in the VEMS. "
Bit confused now if I need to run a solenoid and is it worth it? I have also changed the actuator as the old one was leaking pressure. out of it.
