wideband not heating
« on: August 22, 2014, 11:04:51 pm »
Hi, im a total newbie to wideband lambdas but I have just fitted the vems one and it appears that it is not heating up at all. I have spent most of the night searching through this site reading all sorts and in the end I have just confused myself on what I need to do and check. also I was trying to figure out which was the software for the laptop to plug into the wideband to check what firmware is installed but cannot even find it to download. Physically building engines not a problem but computers and programming I struggle with a bit but willing to learn. I fitted it and it was reading a temp of around 20 degrees, I ran the vehicle for a little but no temp difference, I then removed the sensor again and held it which it then crept to a total of 25 degrees. Im assuming the lack of temp is the reason for not having a reading at all? I cannot find what temp they need to be to start measuring

Thank you for any help in advance

Hello Stevo,

The most likely cause for the round wideband not heating is either:

1) sensor not connected
2) sensor connected but not correctly wired, please review you wiring on the 6 wires you had to insert into wideband plug against the document that what shipped with your round.

Best regards, Dave

Hi, when I have re read my description last night it's not the best. The kit is second hand so unfortunately no paperwork with it. When I got it I was told all was fine with it ( I know it's a possible fault with the sensor or wiring- I can vouch for the person who I bought it from) I was told all I need to connect was a +12v and earth to the vehicle. With these it powers up as in the pic but should there be another +12v for a heater wire at all? I was looking through this post for wiring

Hello Steve,

Your best source of information will be the help at the main Vems website available at: http://vems.hu/vt/help/main/round.html
Pinout of the 15pin dsub is available in the round hardware section: http://vems.hu/vt/help/round/round_hardware.html

Best regards, Dave

Hi, I'm looking at this now and read through the instructions you linked, but I cannot determine which sensor it it is v1 or v2? I'm looking for the serial number to be above or below the 3000 stated. I just done see it anywhere

Just connect to it with VemsTune and you can't miss it.

Sussed it, it's the spare wire coming straight from the sensor. Up and running now but the only thing is that it still only reads 24/25 degrees on the sensor
