I am aware of Missing tooth primary allow sync without camsync receive. I have been using it.
Alien advance gives you, as far as I can see, the opportunity to watch both the rising and falling trigger in the triggerlog. That way it is easy to compare which to use, because both is displayed visually. Also you can see the number of crank degrees between rising and falling camtrigger+number of degrees between primary trigger signals and so on.
One could also use it to verify/check other cam events, to see when they happen.
I still think it was a great tool when setting up/troubleshooting a new engine.
