subaru h6 with avcs + vvl
« on: July 16, 2013, 02:23:01 pm »
hello there, so it's my first time with that type of subaru, maybe someone has experience with it and can say any advice for me?

sec trigger signal is connected to right side intake cam hall sensor
third trigger left side intake cam hall sensor

coils wired 0 output 1 cylinder, 1 output 2 cylinder...

the problem is I cant start it with trigger angle 120 and first trigger tooth 2 like all others subaru starts, if it starts ignition is like ~50 degrees off with 127 and 0 tooth it is working well but I'm still off by 3 degrees.

so, can I rotate ignition table, and use something like ~70 degrees crank angle how it will affect cam measuring?

Have you seen this :

Added support for SUBARU H6 pattern; 36-2-2-2 but a different pattern for engine H6: 19, missing, 10, missing,missing - see See InputTrigger/SubaruEngineHsix
Normally used with camsync (and camshaft-angle-control ~VVTI/AVCS).
"Ignore sectrig pulses above" = 94 (secignore=5E, or 5F) for H6 engine
For Subaru H4 engine, set "Ignore sectrig pulses above" = 62 (secignore=3E, previously didn't matter), see InputTrigger/SubaruThirtySixMinusTwoMinusTwoMinusTwo

yes I have seen it, the problem is, when you select subaru h6 pattern it shows next trigger tooth 6

which is 24/6=4 from four cylinder pattern

it sets ignition outputs to 4 and trigger reff table 0 6 12 18
so I think that default pattern doesn't works..

that engine has 3 sensors, one on crank and one on each intake cam, so total 3 sensors, on h4 as I understood 4 sensors, crank, 2 cam position, and 1 cam reference for sec trigger?

Mhm

You need to take this to the wiki page,

There is indeed a problem there

There are several subaru trigger systems in use, I''m also about to make a 4cyl engine that runs the 3 trigger setup , vr 36-2-2-2 crank , and a hallsensor on both inlet cams,
My own Car runs the 4 vr triggers :)

how to do it that developers notice it? :) I'm thinking, is it possible to run it wasted spark and dont use sec trigger, and for cam control use 3 and 4 trigger inputs? in your video I have seen there is equal cam angle on both cams, on this one I still dont understand what's going on..

How to create trigger config template like other from drop-down menu under primary trigger settings?

I have done two such engines.
Trigger angle 53 deg. And  6th cylinder relates to tooth 0.

It is AVCS. I done two so far. And few old ones. Power gain is just around 10hp over old engine. Old engine give same max torque if high octane fuel is used (e85 ron98 mix 50/50). On AVCS engine torque holds closer to maximum during powerband. Powerbands are nearly the same.
My best AVCS H6 produced near to 300hp. With headwork, exhaust, stock cams. Ron98.

I just made some report and triggerconfig here:

so started it with Gints settings, much better now, not sure why, but I had to adjust trigger angle to 65 degrees instead of 53. left side cam measures 120 degrees, right side 30 degrees on 2000 rpm. tried to activate cam control, left side from 120 degrees max travels to 170 degrees. right side from 30 to 80 degrees, so ~50 degrees of advancing.

some trigger logs
left side cam not moved:

left side cam advanced:
