fuel pressure sensor install
« on: June 03, 2013, 09:45:43 pm »
i just got my pressure sensor today,

couple quick questions before i start wiring it in

on vems.us webstore the pinout for the sensor says

Input is 5V and Gnd, with a 0-5V output linear to 0-100psi.
Pin 1: Gnd
Pin 2: 5V
Pin 3: 0.5-4.5V pressure signal output for 0-100 psi (slope appr: 4V / 7 bar, or 1V/25psi)

so do i put pin 2 to pin4 on the 36 pin connector and pin3 to an analog input or does pin2 go to an analog input? and if i do that where would pin 3 go?

Pin 2 on the sensor would naturally go to the only dedicated +5V output on EC36 pin 28.
Where did you get pin 4 from? That's a low current output driver, with a pull-up for tachometers.
And pin 2 on the sensor is the 5V input, why what how did you relate that to an analog input on the ECU?

And yes, pin 3 on the sensor goes to an analog input of choice - one without +5V pull-up. These are on the EC18 connector, unless you have a PnP ECU or some unusual wiring, and should be described in full on the papers that came with the ECU.

Pin 1 on the sensor must go to sensor ground, I should point that out at this point.

Lol Sorry I what I meant by pin 4 wa 4th on the bottom of the 36 pin so pin 28 5v+

I hooked up pin 2 on the sensor to pin 28, pin1 to sensor ground, pin 3 to pin12 on ec18ch7.

I was just trying to make sure I had it right..

I'm trying to get it configured in vems right now.. Do I just go to ch7 on the inputs and and scale it from 0-100?

Not sure if I'm doing this right. I put a gauge on the main page for ch7analog but I'm not sure I have it reading right

Use the analog input calibration in the Tools menu, much simpler that way. :)

Does this look right to you?

If that gauge is right then my pressure is only 13psi at idle.. That can't be right.. I guess I could always get a regular mechanical gauge and double check but I'm pretty sure it wa alot higher last time I checked. Something's off here

Ok I fixed it lol... Ur gonna laugh when u read this.. Stupid mistake when I installed the gauge I mixed the lines up and put the sensor on the return line haha.. Switched it and I have 55psi at idle. Much more like it.. Set 0.5v to 0psi and 4.5v to 100psi. Seems to be working correctly now..

Always ends up being something stupid lol :P

It's 0.5 to 4.5V, not 0 to 5.
