Pin 22 ground?
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:56:24 am »
I always wondered why pin22 shows a  ----- for the ground on the 1 to 36 sheet that comes with the ecu. Should this be connected to the grounds? I have the belief that in some cases it may not be used. If so, why?

Thanks for not beating on me in advance.. ;D John

Because of historical reason: older v3.3 boards that pin was not connected to ground plane. I have just couple such boards from 2007.
IMO if you do not use high current components such as coil control via onboard IGBTs or low-Z injectors that connection is not mandatory.

Its a newer model. Id say 2the years max in age.
I am left to assume connecting this on an older board could cause problems?

Normally no. Pin internally is not connected or connected to ground via jumper wire.
