Secondary trigger, injection and ignition order
« on: March 24, 2013, 11:44:00 am »
I have primary trigger wheel, 36-2, first cylinder tdc 80 degree after missing tooth. Secondary trigger signal is around 20 degree after second cyl tdc. Vems firmware is 1.2.11, latest Vems tune. Real firing order is 1-2-4-3. I have read that sync starts from next missing gap after the cam impulse. So vems injector and ignition order should be 4-3-1-2 and trigger reference tooth table should be recommended, and of course they would have to be wired like that. Is my logic correct ?

Here is config and triggerlog with 12 degree advance at cranking. vems.zip

I have tried it with timing light, it seems my logic is wrong by 180 degree. So it is 2-4-3-1 or 3-1-2-4 ? I have tried both of them and still can't start engine :/

You need to shift the outputs (buttons on the right in the "ouputs visual" dialog) until cylinder 1 ignites in the correct place.

The cylinder order is only for display, to make more sense for the user.

I have timed on camshaft and it seems that right order is 3-1-2-4. Then I have timed with oscilloscope with trigger being spark on first cylinder and it seems that injectors are working when the mating cylinder is at compression cycle, can't see logic there .... :/ On firmware 1.1.96 what kind of difference is between injection type "port" or "throttle body" on injector timing ?
And another question, is there any database of coil dwell times or i have to measure inductance and calculate dwell ? Any suggestion on some high energy COP ?

A normal  inline 4 cylinder engine has 1-3-4-2 ignition order (Subaru boxer 1-3-2-4).

What engine do you have?

What coils do you have?

My engine has a firing order of 1243, but that's a direct result of using a cylinder head from another engine and having to run the cams backwards  ;D

Other than that, i have only ever come across 1342 for a four cylinder engine

Yamaha R6 03-05, true firing order is 1-2-4-3 but because of secondary trigger i have to put in vems 3-1-2-4. Coils are currently some ford (88sf-12029-a1a), but currently i am waiting COPs from gsxr 600/750. Originally yamaha has cdi.
