hello all!

i recently installed VEMS on my vw 2.0l 16v 4cyl. I am using 034 motorsport external 60-2 trigger wheel to run wasted spark ignition.

this is how i set up the trigger wheel:
engine at TDC #1 (crank and cam timing marks lined up)
sensor is positioned at the 10th tooth from the first after the missing (zero tooth)
missing teeth are poisitoned approx 90deg from engine timing marks, which if i understand setup correctly shouldnt matter.

10 teeth at 6deg per tooth should give me approx 60 deg after missing

i have the primary trigger settings configured for a 60-2 trigger
#of cylinders 4
missing tooth
n-2
normal trigger type
tdc after the trigger 60
# of teeth 58
first trigger 0
next trigger tooth (distance) 30
trigger sequence 0,30
angular width 6deg

trigger logs are strong and clear. no errors stored

the engine does not currently run just backfires

Could be correct, now verify.
Before adding fuel, always bring out the timing light unless you have lots of experience with a certain engine setup.

shift up your ignition outputs you may be firing wrong pair first. hence the backfires.

Disable injectors (pull connectors).
Timing light.

done. had to shift igniton output up once to align tdc with spark on cyl#1.

so now with ignition locked at 1 (0 is not an accepted character) spark and timing appear to be correct at 60deg.

engine will start and run but does not remain running. i was able to get a steady idle only by using the ignition lock feature set to 15deg.
this yeilds a steady idle at approx 1000 rpm (no IAC installed on vehicle) but once the throttle is applied lightly it will spit and spudder for a few seconds and then stabilize at a higher rpm.

i am not sure why it will only run with ignition advance locked.

sensor readings appear ok. lambda will peg to 1.3 (max gauge) with any throttle application
