My car seems to 'freeze' vemstune on my netbook whenever i go full throttle and attempt to take a log. you can shut down vemstune and fire it back up, and then all is well. but the log isnt taken. now if i turn the SD logger on internally and go do a pull, it will lock up as mentioned above--reboot vemstune---turn the SD logger off, the log is saved in there just fine. now, i will try and include all useful information below here that i think may be of importance in the quest to track this issue down.
Grounds, block is grounded to the body of the car. on that same bolt on the block there is also a ground cable that runs to the rear seat area of the car where the negative battery cable is grounded to the body of the car via a large bolt. the vems unit is grounded to the head. i use an HP mini running windows 7, with a USB-Serial converter using a Prolific driver. doing some poking around the internet is seems that the driver i have isnt the newest one according to Prolifics site, i may try and install the newer driver just to see if that helps at all later today. i will also note that i run a non-resistored spark plug in the car, but there are many other cars that run this plug and this same ecu that do not have these com issues, and a bosch motorsports coilpack with just some stock VW 16v plug wires attached to it. some say the plugs may very well be the culprit, and lets just say they are causing electrical noise within the system under high load and thats whats causing the USB converter to loose communication...could i add some sort of electrical noise dampner somewhere in the ignition system to clean up the signal?
the car feels solid the entire time, no misfires, no hiccups, just pure pedal to the metal smooth as butter power.
