Time to revive this build, as I have pretty much started from scratch twice over  :D The car has been off the road since December 2009 after I melted a piston ::)

The engine is a +0.020" bore 1275 block, Forged Acralite pistons, toughened crank, BMW K100 16v cylinder head, Garrett GT1752 water cooled turbocharger from a 2000-2003 Saab 9-3 or 9-5. 200hp not impossible with these components ;D but is being built as a road engine with emissions, idle characteristic economy and drivebility in mind, so in the main I'm looking at arround 150hp at 8psi and around 180hp at 15 psi. The turbo will push 19psi at around 21lb/min air so that 200hp will be chased for on the dyno ;D

Getting closer now  :) just some plumbing to sort - boost, coolant and fuel and I should be able to fire this puppy up for the first time. 1.2.10 firmware downloaded. All sensors actuators and calibrations tested and completed. I'm just finalising the initial map settings. Starting from a completely unknown set up, so first start might be a hit and miss afair.

Rover A Series 1275cc +0.5mm (1293cc) engine and transmission
BMW K100 4v twin cam cylinder head using the K1100 'LT' cams (256 duration)
Garrett GT1752 turbocharger from a SAAB 93/95
Denso COP ingition coils from a 2001 Suzuki GSXR100. Denso part number 129700 - 4150

The clutch is a modified standard unit assembled from two standard clutches. If one spring is not up to the job, just add another  ;D

Drivability, emissions and idle would all be the same if you where to run 200hp, so I suggest you run 200hp.

As much as I wan't to, I need to be nice to the gearbox, or it'll jump out at me :D

Then hold back on the torque in the low rpms to not break it, it won´t be HP that breaks it but torque.

one reason why I have a wheel speed sensor fitted ;)

The MG Metro Turbo had a small ECU that controlled the boost level on RPM with 4psi below 4000rpm and 7psi above, for the very reason of gearbox reliabilty, at only 90lbft. Of course that was an OEM with a warranty policy :D 

I have my Choke to hand, AKA Boost control ;D
