SD card reader installation

I bought a v3SDcard reader, memory card and end plate from VEMS.hu to my V3.3.
When I installed it yesterday evening according to "http://www.vems.hu/download/SD/v3SDcard.htm" the ECU did not start up afterwards. The unit was completely dead and did not respond to anything.
I then uninstalled it and the ECU started up fine.
Since my SD card reader is the type where you can remove the SD card through the end plate, the picture does not fully correspond to the instruction. But there is only one way to install the reader for it to line up with the slot in the end plate.

What am I doing wrong??

I tried to install it one more time and this time without the memory card. Then the ECU started up as it should. It took some time to find all the settings in Vemstune to get any data logged, but now it is working as it should.
