Injectors stays open randomly
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:33:14 pm »
What could cause vems to randomly open injectors and hydralock engine? This strange situation happens without any order, sometime in idle, sometime when under load, absolutely without any order.

Something very similar happened to mine on a rolling road, it then did the same with a coil and melted it.  I have had other minor issues of gauges/sensors freezing with a laptop connected i.e. MAT, TPS etc... resolved by restarting the car or Vemstune.

It's with Rob at the moment for diagnostics, so will hopefully know more after the weekend.

Mine is a V3.3 running 1.1.98, what is yours?

This is usually down to bad/improper grounding.

The old style injector FETs are quite weak too and don't handle abuse well, the new ones which are on v3.6 will work on v3.3 and look just like IGBTs. In fact I think you can actually use IGBTs as well, but then just forget about PWM for the injectors (= low-Z injectors without power resistors)  which either way is harder to implement on v3.3 so don't plan on it and just get a v3.6+ prepared for that.
