Testing IGBTs

Is there anyway to test the IGBTs without opening the ECU.?

My bus has no sparks after winter (engine has been cranked occasionally with fuel pump relay removed)

I am wondering whether I have blown them in the cold weather with probably low battery voltage.

There is 12v at the coil pack, so it is not a blown fuse

Yes. Remove all coils. Invert ignition outputs under Ignition Settings. Now at each coil plug you should have close to supply voltage. Test current flow capability with halogen bulb. Do not forget return to normal output polarity!

Also You can try to ignite coils with test feature.

Well I don't get 12V on them when inverted.

I have taken the board out and they don't look burnt.  I will take them out of circuit and see how I can test them.

I remembered I had some spare in the rescue kit.

I have just compared them and they seem to measure identically with the DVM ???

I'll change them and then have another look

Please describe how you verified this. It's impossible to measure voltage at the IGBT output pin, it's ground.

Yes I realised that when I opened the ECU in the lab at work and realised there was nothing wrong with the IGBTs...

In fact I had upgraded to 1.1.95 in November but had not started it.  I think it was the Safety mode at fault, but it was strange - there was definately fuel getting through as it back fired.

Anyway it now starts after upgrading to 1.1.96 ;D

Thanks for the help.  Now I just have to find out why the EGT has stopped working ???
