It does show that there are and always will be issues with the market position of the unit.  Does it matter though?

I used to know that Sideways Danny bloke on there, I don't quite understand why he says what he says and what fuel pump channels he's seen blow.  He was working for another ECU manufacturer a while back.

june 2010 is not a million years ago though is it, and if there are people flaunting that sort of opinions only less than a year ago, they probibly still will now.

The ecu´s abilities and software updates make it worth while ,

Best is that price hasn´t changed even if it´s constantly evolving at a very nice rate.

VEMS does not have a good name amongst the MegaSquirt crowd, as the MS-AVR became the V2 which wasn't well received, and people looking on at the system in the first instance saw MegaTune and drew their own conclusions.

But this attitude seems to be soley in the UK, which is a large market and awash with very strong competition.  The European mainland especially Eastern Europe seems to be where VEMS has a good foot hold, especially in the Audi and BMW markets.

If VEMS was to come onto the market now with the VEMS Tune software there would be nothing to link it with MS.

in the vw audi world alot of people dont even know what VEMS is.. they know what lugtronic is though.

the VT def helps define this as its own from MS,  however in the US market it is becoming very well known now.  since the vemstune is out.

there are 3 or 4 of the top 10 fastest cars in the US running it now. so that helps alot.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it anymore. People who think that will not change their mind, as they're already invested in something else. But for anyone new, what matters most at the end is results. I was considering various units but what sold me in the end is that a car pretty much identical to what I planned to build was already configured and running perfectly. So not only is there no question that it will work for me, but I also have someone to ask for help - and that beats any manufacturer's customer support.

Here, in Serbia, it's bit different. The main difference between Vems and MS is that Vems will give you 400whp more on your setup, and MS could maybe 250 max  . Nobody mentions "printer port connections", WBO2, 8 channel sequential, same or different tuning software... No, Vems is something more powerful (for about 150whp), and ms is something that squirts Like pornhub is main support site

Good thing is that's clearly defined [VEMS] <not_equal> [MegaSquirt (pornhub, redtube, etc...)]

the problem is ms v2 is $350 assmebled in the US, and v3 is about $550.

And for vems with internal map, and with flying lead like the ms is about $800.

i think it is far worth it, but when new comers do not know the difference between the two, and they are told it used to use megatune, it gets frustraighting trying to explain, no its not the same.. even ms3 still doesnt have a built in wideband, after cost of a wbo2 plus any extras you need its almost the same price msv3 vs VEMS3.6

another thing here in the US especially in the VAG market, lugtronic is 1200-1500 so this steers people away and toward MS since his price is so much higher then vems.us or vems.hu

people just dont know you can buy from webshop or other dealers in the US.

I can´t imagine he´s selling products at elevated prices without there being added features or components with the ecu.

1200 is wire in ecu.. nothing done to ecu.
 1500 is for a pnp harness. with the ecu

the extra money is for his support

It was me that started the topic and have since bought a Vems 3.6 board which I installed into an M50 case. I'll be trying to start the car in the next few days.
