audi v8 auditrigger
« on: November 07, 2011, 10:19:08 pm »
hello, I'm trying to start audi v8 engine (136 tooth on flywheel) with auditrigger divided by 2, using cam hall inverter.
trigger config :

I'm getting rpm readings, but I cant get spark.
sometimes spark shows for one time:

trigger log: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8g317n

so, can anybody help me?
is this tooth width problem?

you don't have 136 teeth after dividing.
What are you sec trigger sensor settings?

sec trigger

in 5 cyl audi trigger divided by 3 i get (135x2)/3 I get 90 tooth, next trigger tooth 18
in v8 divided by 2 i get 136 tooth next trigger tooth 17, or I'm calculating it wrong?
I want to run it sequential

yes, tried this number today, then I got spark but got many primary trigger errors too, so how my reference tooth table should look?

yes, ref table is good.
imho problem is that sec trigger isn't allways on 100% same position.
Try to change sec tigger to falling. Also play with LS-1 forgiven.

so one more evening of testing  :)
trigger log with to many primary trigger looks like that:

in newer vemstune it looks :

tried to enable special extrapulse trigger then I got spark.

trigger log looks like that:

but when I tried to strobe ignition with timing light spark has gone again when I changed tdc after the trigger value. changed value back, no spark :( is it posible that I need to play with first trigger tooth value and shift the ignition outputs in events?

maybe it is possible to use only 2 triggers for that car? 136 tooth on flywheel and 1 cam hall pulse?
something like this?

on your place i would put 60-2 trigger wheel somewhere in car.
If your trigger starts to work, it'll be very unaccurate. Problem is with timing belt.

Let start from beginning
1) divide by 2 gives 136. But it is probably too much for CPU. You can try it also later.
2) In final you still need dividable by 8 result. Seems there is just one option: divide by 17

Divider 17
It gives 16 teeth on wheel (not the best but for me seems it is second option after divider 2)
first trigger tooth 0 or 1
TDC after the trigger - keep in 45...70 range preferably by changing previous value.  Exact value you can find with strobe light.
Next trigger tooth 2
Angular width 45deg

Ref tooth table
0
14
12
10
8
6
4
2

What else: you have to be sure about Hall signal occurs during every second TDC signal.
