FESB Racing Team

Hi everybody

Im member of Fesb racing team and we are building formula student car

We are using honda cb600f engine with vems v3.6. Engine is tested with original ecu and its in great shape.

Main problem is that everything works but we cant get RPM reading no matter what, and so we cant start the engine. But in the beggining we had RPM reading with same setting and same wiring ?  ???

More info :

Wiring is good, al grounds are stricly followed by the manual

We use 2 coils ( wasted spark configuration )

Only primary trigger because cb600f dont have secundary ( its 12 tooth trigger with 2 teeth removed so its 12-2 ) with VR sensor

Trigger log is great with no trigger errors, we have spark, and fuel.

Ignition order and injector order are set correctly.

We are using latest vems tune, with 1.1.96 firmware ( we tried several older firmwares but no luck )

We have reading from every sensor, but no RMP.

By searching the forum i found that problem might be in P259 chip ? Is it possible that we fried it somehow and because of that we dont have RPM ?

Its important to say that our fuel pump didnt work with the reley from the beggining, but it was connected to fuel reley pin, and everytime we tryed starting the engine we short-circuted pump. So we dont know if that damaged P259?  I get 12 V on fuel reley pin so P259 should be ok  ???

We measured voltage on P259 and its showing 5 v on Vcc so its working ??? I searched the forum and saw that we need to remove pin 4 from P259 to get RPM reading ? But im confused now because we have trigger reading which are good so VR sensor works ??

I can upload config and log later if necessary.

BIG help needed

Thank you all

If you have a trigger reading then you have a working crank sensor.
You say you have spark?  If so, disable fuel for now and check that the spark is occurring where you want it to.

Rob thanks for response

Spark is occuring in the right place (red lines in trigger log).

I will upload config and log later so you can take a look

Are you able to remedy the issue using the trigger tooth and trigger before TDC values?
