Hi,

I've been trying to get a spark on this for a while now.
Had the ecu sent to hungary after a short seemed to throw all the calibrations out and ruined my mat sensor. They replaced the mainboard from 3.3 to 3.6 in case of unseen damaged after they tested it and found no problems. I have a normal vems unit with the EC connectors and not a plug and play unit, It has an adapter loom made up by peter nanassy.

Im using the standard audi trigger divby3 on FW 1.1.81

I have been probing with a multimeter for a few weeks now and recently got at it with an oscilloscope.

I've checked continuity on the grounds and all the sensors and it all checks out fine.
Im getting 950ohms on both VR sensors 135teethVR EC36\27 and 2nd reference pin VR EC18\12.

the oscilloscope is showing the 135teeth VR as 15-20volts at cranking and the 2nd VR as 0.6 volts and the occasional 3-4volts spike.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61np7Um41LY a short video of cranking using the scope on the 2nd VR

i think the lower amplitude waves are being picked up from the starter ring gear next to it.

i have a trigger log and other pics and info but don't know how to attach it in here  ??? and the window im typing in only allows me once the height of it before it wont let me see what im typing and bounces up and down

make your pin on the flywheel bigger. i think this is the problem.
good look

 IMHO 3-6V should be enough.
Here is the way how to upload files: http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=FileArea click on [File Manager]

Is there a way i can see the 2nd vr in vems.

The primary trigger is wired as the 135teeth and not showing a signal in vemstune although getting a good healthy signal at the connector.

secondary trigger is cam hall which is showing in vemstune trigger log.

2nd vr for the ref. Pin on the back of the flywheel is wired to ec18pin12 analog ch. But trigger log doesnt show this part of the trigger system.

Out and about at the moment, will put that trigger log up when i get home.

Thanks!

...and here it is - http://www.vems.hu/filethingie.php?action=list&subdir=quattroant

other pics and info in this .zip

-vems log of cranking.
-trigger log
-pics of oscilloscope showing 135tooth VR and 2nd VR signals

Somewhat is really wrong with your hardware.
Does your ECU is constructed with "auditrigger" option?

You should not see hall signal at all in triggerlog, because physically micro-controller "see" just ground or ground  from it. Secondary signal should occur every ~500ms at cranking (240rpm). And it comes from Hall AND secondary VR - as one secondary signal just in case when both signals are active.

And of course you should see 90 primary signals between secondaries in log file.

QuotePin on the back of the flywheel is wired...
Pin is on the front of flywheel! Front sensor - crankhome, rear sensor - 135 teeth.

Gints.

here is the wiring info of the adapter loom and the pinouts for v3.3 which it used to be before mainboard swap.

The non start vemslog will have all my ignition cahnnels and settings in.

I can't find somewhat wrong trigger related in those documents.

But what trigger options was requested for new board?

Something like this we can expect from board with two Hall inputs.

BTW did you swap polarity of crankshaft reference position sensor?

quattroant

yes i swapped the polarity of crankhome vr.

on the sheet that came with the new board install it says under primary trigger "VR or HALL" is there a setting that can choose this?

No clear mention "Audi trigger"? It is hardware settings. You have to open the unit and check some details. Make a photo of both sides of PCB.

will get those pics up.

could it be p259? Will that cause primary trigger probs?

Shouldnt be a problem with a new mainboard but i know my luck.
