idle set up and turning iac off
« on: April 29, 2008, 02:25:24 pm »
Well to contine from my other thread about idle  :-[

Ok to start :o

At the bottom of the screen it says IAC on. From talking to rob i now know this stands for idle air control basicly the vems is tring to control an air valve from what i understand but i dont have one.

how do i turn this off?

next :)

from the other thread dnb put forward that i use use the spark timing adjust (settings in extras->idle settings advanced) for idle control.

anyone got any setting i can try? and explain it a little?

thanks

iac on
is just telling you that VEMS is trying somehow to manipulate idle.

even if you are not running a valve but ignition based idle control.

If you turn the IAC off then you wont be able to use the spark adjust.
To turn off: Extras->Idle settings  Set Control Type to ON/OFF and TPS value for idle threshold(%) to 0

But if you leave things as is and go to Extras->Idle Settings Advance/PID then set:
Active to enabled
Advance Change max advance (deg) to 20
Advance Change max retard (deg) to 20
Then you'll need to play with
Advance rate of change (deg/256rpm)
Threshold for activating IAC (deg)
But you could start with 10 each and see how that takes you.  You'll see at idle that the ignition is all over the place and that the rpm falls.

Could someone try to "translate" this to VemsTune. AFAIK this is for Megatune.

I run TPS and don't have any IAC and would like to turn it off competly.

Thanks

In the menus: Starting/Idle -> TPS Value for Idle Threshold should be set to 1.

If you are not running any type of IAC, the IAC On indicator will not affect anything else.  You don't need to worry about it.

I played with this value but IAC control still works.
I have disabled all that i could but i still get ignition/fuel correction and cutoffs.

I will try with IAC lock.

I think you're confusing what idle control actually is.

What do YOU mean with ignition/fuel correction and cutoff ?

Any fuel correction is not related to this, unless you refer to overrun fuelcut which is a fuel saving function. Disable overrun fuelcut if that's what you want - this is affected by what you set the idle TPS threshold to, and a badly calibrated TPS will make life difficult here. You can of course use only the pressure based fuelcut, works just as well on most engines.

Idle correction through ignition advance is easy to disable, so set it do "disable". What are you not doing right here, what do you see?

What are you trying to do with IAC lock? If you don't have an actual valve and settings to control it, nothing happens..

I don't have no valve/motors/whatever. Just ITB's.
But, i can't get motor to idle freely depending on the air that get's into engine.

Wherever possible i try to put IAC options to to off/disable/0 but it looks i can't get it disabled whatever i try.
Why i think i can't get IAC disabled.
Because whatever i do, ECU still doesn't use exact VE and ignition map values that are written for that TPS/rpm.

For whole line for TPS 0-1% and 0-2000 rpm ignition is 15.
What i get from engine is mostly 13.5. Sometimes 8.5, sometimes i get spark cut.
Fuel is set on 40, but i see that injector pulse is shutting off, and VE fluctuates.

Hope i'm more clear now.

Thanks

I think you have to post your .vemslog file with problematic operation!
