EGO correction on always?

I did a couple of runs today and noticed on my logs that EGO correction seems to be on all the time, regardless of the fact that i have my parameters set to only be correcting up to 120kpa

i do have though max TPS 100% and max rpm 7700rpm.

should i make the max TPS less?

i do like to have the max rpm 7700 because i want the EGO to be on during all VE under 120kpa.

thanks

gunni

Can you see any ego correction take place or does it stay at 100%?

AVP

yes on the log i see ego correction at 103% and it stays like that all throughout the run

would that have anything to do with fuel enrichment? because that should be 100 on that IAT

AVP

i think i have found the reason

i have the freeze when out of bounds: enabled.

on a second run, just before i went WOT, EGO had to go to 110% due to some accel enrichment which momenterally didnt appy and then it freezed to 111% all throughout the run!

AVP

how crucial is this feature by the way?

is the VE and fuel enrichment tables enough to cover for any lamda problems?

should i just leave it in disabled?

gunni

lambda problems?

If appropriately tuned you do not need the closed loop control

AVP

yes i understand

i took a drive again and logged a run, without that feature and lamda is rock solid at 0.80 to 0.79 as i want it, so no problems!

In most cases I found safer to use closed loop always with VEMS.
There is some non predicatable circimstances. Mostly fuel pressure and temperature related. Also you never tune IAT map over all range. If tune it at all.

When WBO2 fails VEMS usualy starts rapidly fluctuate EgoCorr. somewhat in +/-6% range. Engine slightly lose power, but it is still usable. Safe.

Did you saw how fast is EgoCor in case of air in fuel?

AVP

what do you mean Gints?
you use EGO correction on all the map?

Yes. Except deceleration area.

AVP

arent you afraid that if the wideband fails you may end up being lean on boost for example?

GintsK

Aren't you afraid being lean due to some fuel problem?

Until now I have no melted pistons due to failed O2 sensor. But I had some cases where engine survives only because of fast Ego correction.

Typically when sensor fails VEMS ends with max positive EgoC or EgoC fluctuates few times in second like searching for signal response. Until now I never saw lean condition.

Fluctuation is some built in algorithm. Even risky engine works for hours on that. With little power loss. Average lamda seems richer than tuned. May be some developer can clarify how it is designed?
