Hi everybody,
New here on this forum.
My name is Michele and i'm from Belgium.
I have ordered my Vems ecu a few days ago and I will need some help in the future.... ;-).
My car: VW GOLF MK4 1.8T 20V AGU engine  1999.
The mods:
-Big turbo TD04L from subaru WRX
-Homemade header stainlessteel egal lenght
-440 cc bosch injector
-full no cat exhaust Miltek 2.5"
-Front mounted intercooler
-Lc-1 innovate wideband gauge w boch sensor.
-Air intake kit
-Alloy dump valve
-0.7 bar waste gate
-Homemade housing 3" MAF

My shopping list:

   1-wire interface no

   ignition driver 4 + 4

Actually my questions are:
-how to connecting the thorttle stepper motor and how can I make it work javascript:void(0);?

-Can I remove the ignition controle module or is it better for the ecu to drive low current?
All your advice (wiring diagrams,pictures,links,etc..)will be apreciated, thank you.

There is currently no support for ETC (electronic throttle control).

It's best to keep the stock ignition module, you must find what type of signal it requires.

You will need a separate Bosch LSU4 sensor for your ECU.
You won't need the MAF.

Thanks for this fast reply.
But I saw on the net that "LUGTRONIC" sell a PnP kit for this engine based on the VEMS ecu,
And if you read the description,it is not necessary to change anything on the car,so I supposed this kind of thorttle body must drive by the Vems javascript:void(0);??
Tell me if I'm wrong...is the first time for me to try mouting this kind of stuff,I need to learn step by step listening your advice and experience.
Can you tell me if it is always necessary to use the crank and cam sensor or only the VR crank sensor is enough(60-2)?

The PnP means you can plug the ecu into the stock engine harness. The throttle does need to be changed to an earlier model.
Yes, you can run the engine on only a crank sensor. Although the 1997-1998 "AEB" engine had the proper "one window" cam sensor that can also be used.

I hope it works for you, I always like to see project pictures!

Regarding drive-by wire, check the Countach project in this forum, they have a DBW module.

Now i need to find the voltage value for driving the thorttle motor.
But at this time a bad thing as succeed to me  :'(...
My engine is dead,the candle(cyl 1) melted and one exhaust valve is destroyed ???
Can you take a look at these pictures and give me your opinion,please?
I was thinking about too much timing advance under boost,or too hot sparkle type index  ???

Could it have been that the valve was not completely closed, the blow-by would then have over heated the edge of the valve and caused the rest of the problem.

What spark plug you use?
F5DPOR is good plugs for this engine to 400HP , i build few 1.8t but anyone on vems, stock ecu can great control knock and mixtures.
i saw similar broken valve but in 16v with N2O .
what timing  when this happen and what boost, i can compare to my logs from ME3-ME7 setups.

I would imagine that the AGU is a one window, since it in 1999 model year.
It is very easy to replace the trigger wheel, if needed, on any 1.8t.

Hi,
The sparks installed were Bosch F6 with Platinum fine electrode and it occur that is a bad type for this kind of engine when running with LPG system,I think your right the F5 "COPPER" spark type will probably be better ( i bought the F5DTC).
It think there was too much T° and too much timing advance(between 22-26° at top end under 1.4 bar of boost!!).
The problem is that I never find the timing map,with his 3D axle description,on my Bosch ecu software( 958F checksum).
The car run about 120000 km with stock timing map and stock ecu modified,never had mechanical damage.
I have installed a piggyback ecu from ECU MASTER and the nightmare began...
That's why I bought the VEMS.
The cam sensor is a hall effect and the crank VR type.

Ps:I will drive the thorttle with a Pololu controler like the "Lambo project".
The idle motor need 12V dc/1 amp,with a feedback signal like an RC model car system ;-) !
You only have to put analogic signal in the controler and he do the rest.

Hi everybody,
After a BIG BIG job,I'm back with my car alive  :)
I've post some pic's about my self made wiring loom.My target is keep the oem wiring loom in place to make the job easy and cleaner assembly.For that i've take off and modified a connector from a broken 3.8.3 Bosch ecu.This way I can make a plug and play system.

I've received my POLOLU dc motor controller,it is the "jrk 21V3" model.It is a very small circuit it will be easy to hide it on the engine compartment.I think i'll put it in line on my self made harness,with a thremo jacket.
Dc controller found on Ebay from "www.robotsimple.com".
They do good price and fast shipping ;)
