Whats going on here then?

Same thing happens with 2 sensors. I'm not 100% that the firmware and config is correct :)

Might just be a config issue, and will depend on firmware version, but at an educated guess, the config might be set for AIM channels on the start up display

Post up the MSQ file from Megatune

erm how do I do that? I've been using vemstune to update the firmware and SSSSflood. It does seem to crash vemstune every now and then too

Which firmware version? VemsTune doesn't play very well with the gauge at the moment. There's a Megatune packaged with each firmware though at least until the latest version.

Version 1.4.3 is known bad and has been removed from the downloads. 1.4.4 was released last week if I remember right.

Thanks for the post's guys :)

I've tried many firmware's now. I'm clicking on the batch file rather than using vems tune and it seems to work well (I know its says not to double click). The gauge is entering the heater stage and counting up to around 55 including A-f then it appeaers to reset and read HOE -e- then re-enters the heater stage. On one firmware it just read FFU?

Im running the unit on a bench through a transformer. I've noticed that the more I reduce the voltage the less the heater stage stays on ie only reads up to H30. The sensor is getting hot so the heater is working.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Rob

I have done two of these gauges and its just been a wire it up and plug it in job and it works. First time we did get the wiring crossed on the lambda sensor connector, but once that was rectified it worked.

Post up the MSQ file. you can generate this file when you use the save function in Megatune. Don't forget to state the firmware version you are using. Like I said, it may be that the display is set for AIM on the start up page of the gauge.

Does the button push change the values?

Hi sprocket,

Whats the best way to upload an msq?

http://www.vems.hu/download/round/old/

With the round no AIM from the above link I have syptoms as described in my first post and the button has no effect.

http://www.vems.hu/download/round/

with round 2007-03 I get the symptoms as mentioned in my last postand the button scrolls through 4 options, two of which look like temperatures even though there isn't a thermocouple connected.

I should point out that the gauge is a few years old and was purchased in 2006.

Thanks for persisting with me while I learn my way around the programs etc,

Rob

Carefully check the wiring at the lambda sensor connector on the guage loom side. The wire sizes and colours were stupid and easy to get crossed.

I would use the latest firmware that is known good. I have used round_2008-02-12 and round_2009-04-30 successfully. Use the upload batch files in the package to upload the firmware, and then use the Megatune in the package to set the gauge up. Using megatune, you can go 'file, save as' to save the config as an msq extention. It is this file you can post up here for others to have a look at the config. You will need to host the file on a file sharing resource.

IIRC round_2008-02-12 is a fair bit different from round_2009-04-30 in that round_2009-04-30 includes AIM set up? not too sure, but I know there is a difference in the way you can set up the display pages for AIM stream from a Vems ECU.

The gauge has been used successfully before and the wiring hasn't changed since but I will double check it regardless. I didn't realise I needed change the settings in megatune. I opened the settings earlier and they all read zero, however I couldn't be sure that the gauge was connected as it didn't say so.

I'll give the firmware you mention a go and report back my progress. The gauge is being used standalone and to be honest i'm only interested in the fuel ratio display.

Cheers agaian,

Rob

-FU means it's in AIM mode and not getting AIM data.

You need to use a non-AIM firmware. This is precisely why we have different firmwares for AIM and standard use.

As far as the heater count-up and recycle, I'm willing to bet your "power supply" is too small and can't maintain the heater for long. Try using a car battery, motorcycle battery, or something like that.

Hi Jrussell,

I thought that may be the case. I've generally been using older firmware as its not clear to me which firmware is for AIM data.

The gauge is connected up to the mains electric supply in my house using a transformer similar to this,

Although actually mine only says 300mA.

Just checked on a car battery and we have a winner!

Thank you all so much for your help I can finally got on with my car!

Cheers,

Rob
