hello all,

can someone recommend a good setting for the "map filter" on a v8 engine.

At the moment i have

triggers num for map filter = 2

map samples per trigger = 10

got these from the help dialogue (V6 engine though)

cheers

"Triggers num" are the number of cylinder events to get the samples from.
"Map samples per trigger" are the amount of samples between those events.

I would not use more than one revolution, V8 would mean "triggers num" = 4.
The default settings use about a half revolution, I would stick with that.

As long as the signal seems steady and not pulsating you should be fine.

thanks,

Makes more sense now, and another thing off my list of things i dont understand...

I have about 2.5kpa oscillation in my map sensor readings at idle......is this ok...or does it need to be better?

but i have a piper 285 cam...and thought it might be lumpy on idle anyway.

what is classed as a "noisey map" reading?

Noisy.. hard to say, one which wanders more than that and causes different fueling while really being in a steady state.
You have to determine that yourself, some things can't be fixed easily.

Do what you can with the map filter settings, you can also try mechanically damping as a final method. Either a small gasoline filter in-line, or a 1 mm MIG welding piece as a restriction.
