Altough it's not a big problem, i still would like to find out why my round display is making a strange hissing sound when turned on. It's most noticeable at startup, the sound is like a  high frequency hissing going up and down. It's connected directly to it's own lambda and EGT, i think it could be related to this somehow, maybe bad wiring?

Its a feature, high frequency modulation of the heater.

OK, thanks. But is the heater supposed to be on while the engine is hot as well?
I'm a bit of a newbie to this, so i don't understand the need to heat the O2 sensor in a worm exhaustpipe.

As I understand things they have to correlate the heater's temperature/resistance reading with the reading from the Nernst cell, so its driven and read all of the time that the sensor is operating.

The Hissing sound actually disappeared after upgrading the firmware. I hope the instrument is still ok as i have nothing to compare with i don't know if its normal or not.

The frequency was changed in the latest firmwares to reduce noise due to the complaints. Nothing is wrong, it's expected.

the hissing is annoying. It shouldn't be expected at all... even if there is nothing wrong.

From that I would suggest latest firmware fixes the 'hiss'

tweak

The gauge still works and hissing is gone.
Upgrade at first chance if you have this problem :D
