Which is the best firmware for beginners?
« on: April 20, 2010, 12:48:45 am »
Hi all,
I have a VEMS 3.3 and have been looking through the wiki and the forum for the most appropriate firmware for me. With the ongoing improvements and debugging, it seems that every day the opinions change.

My question is simple, as it stands today, what is the best versions of firmware and Vemstune (or MLV?) to use for a newbie to VEMS? Which ones offer the the best compromise of features and stability.

I have seen that V1.0.38 is best firmware to start with but that was eons ago. People recommend V1.1.44, and I see V1.1.70 is now released.

My goal is to run : 6 cyl wasted spark, sequential injection (no cam sync initially), boost control

Can you guys weigh in, I am ready to download.

I would use 1.1.70 and the config in Mattias's sig.  He's running:
Engine is stock 2.0 litre 6 cyl / 12 valve.
Stock 150 cc/min injectors wired sequentially.
Wasted spark ignition (Bosch coil)
http://media.vems.se/mattias/bmw-m20-1.1.69.vemscfg (works with 1.1.70)

So thats pretty much what you want.

1.1.70 has better boost control.
