Using a different shielded wire, infinite resistance between sheild and conductors.

18 ga AWG.

Wire is soldered into the EC36 on one end, and wire nutted onto the VR sensor on the other, just in case I have it inverted.

I found the headphone trigger util in vemstune, do I just run a headphone cable into the trigger wire on vems and the ground, and plug her into the headphone jack, hit play?

Where do I find what pins relate to which channels (i259, s259, etc)?

Not 100% sure on the trigger utility yet, but others have used this

Try this for the pin out designation http://www.vems.co.uk/VEMSUserManual/ECConnectorsOut.png  and use the chart below

In VemsTune you have a graphical representation of the connector along with the choice of inputs. Should be a no-brainer.

Use this for reference if you wish : http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=GenBoard%2FManual%2FDigitalOut%2FTable

Please read Rob's guide, several times : http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=MembersPage%2FPhatBob%2FUserGuide
It should give you a good grasp of the wiring issues and methods.

I wouldn't have made it this far without having read the guide a couple times, it's just a lot of info to take in all at once for a rookie.

Figured my problem out, Wire needed to be shielded, but with the shield not grounded to anything.  If I ground it, I get a wonky signal, if I unshield it, I get no signal at all...

Thanks guys!  Car starts and runs, just ironing out issues now!

The sheild needs to be grounded at one end only.

The sheild needs to be grounded at one end only.
.. and preferrably at the ECU end. It's usually never grounded at the sensor.
