Should i just make a jumper like on the picture above or is there any way to protect ignition outputs (fuses, diodes etc??? ) ?

Any recomendations?

Il's use active vag 4 pin cops. it have signal in  2xgnd and +12

joined pins 1&2.  would it work for vw COP ?
Or pullup to 5v is needed?

I have six COPs so i left two igbt's onbard for something else...

Jumpers are not enough. Now inline with juper you have ~500Ohm resistors. Usual way is to use another 500Ohm in parallel. Resulting 250Ohm. It because inside VAG COP has ~400Ohm pulldown resistor for signal.

Could you wire up COPs in wasted spark mode and use stepper chip?

What relates protection: take care to connect secondary winding grounds separately to prevent , but power grounds of coils - near where you have VEMS grounds.

if you have old vag cop, then jumper is good and resistor on vems board is protector.
if you have new vag cop, then only with jumper don't work. I use then stepper chip and 100ohm resistor.

My car has V6 and it's without camsync so it will be wasted spark.
You say i can connect 2 by 2 together to stepper output And use 100 ohm between trigger signal of two coils and stepper output?

VW coil is 115R (new model i think)

yes, i use that for v6 engines.

Thanks!

So just single 100ohm in series from stepper to two 115r coil and that's it.

Stepper is unused anyway, looks like i'l be soldering those spare igbt's back on vems...

From your expireience, where to connect coil grounds? One on head and second where vems GND is or?

MWfire

for every cop i use one 100ohm resistor.
Ground them to head.

both gnd pins to head  ???

soi it will be

COP-----resistor 100ohm--\
                                      \
                                       --------vems stepper A out
                                      /
COP -----resistor 100ohm--/

thank's for info.

One of GND wire of each coil is other end of secondary winding. I had the case where all grounds including VEMS sensor ground was on one bolt. And it leads to hard noise problems. Connect these somewhere separately (separate bolt is OK).

I used VAG COPs straight from stepper few times. I think no recommendations on wiki about 100Ohm. And no place where to soldier these. I have even one V8 like this.

Just to report...
Cops are working, conected two by two ... on stepper outputs (paralel) without resistors... dwell 1.5ms
