Thought its about time I created a Project Page...

The car is running an early 3 rib 4AGE block still, will be a late 7 or silvertop bottom end in the future.
Engine is running AE101 ITB's with TechnoToyTuning Velocity Stacks.
Intake cam is 288 and Exhaust is 272 both HKS cams.

For triggering I'm running a double row alloy crank pully (So I can keep A/C :P) with a 36-1 Trigger wheel again both from TechnoToyTuning
I am using a Ford EDIS VR Sensor as fitted to most mid 90's to mid 00's UK Fords.

Ignition is controlled by Mitsubishi EVO 4-9 Coil packs and Magnecor Leads.

How they are wired in:

Looking into the coil pack connector, with the spark boot pointing down.
Pin 1 = Fixed Live
Pin 2 = Fixed Ground
Pin 3 = Switched Live

To do pin 3 I removed the Normal switched ground wires from the ECU end of the Loom (Pin 34 and 36 on the EC36 connector)
Then plug them into EC18-pin4 and EC18-pin10.

I am currently running Firmware 1.0.73 and AlphaN, but will be looking into something newer such as the one beeing developed for Vems Tune.

Still to do:

1, Get a working Rev Counter using stock dash
2, Upgrade Firmware
3, Tune Cranking for both Cold and Hot start better than they are currently
4, Lean out idle and normal trafic driving parts of the MAP
5, Build new engine with CR of about 12:1
6, Get a fully tuned MAP on a dyno
6, Look into some of the newer features such as SD card logging

Not quite :(

The rear arches are a little rusty and corner of front bumper is cracked a little. But in general still looks like that.
Going to get the body work sorted out in a couple of months, just saving up.

1, Get a working Rev Counter using stock dash

PhatBob has a diagram of how to wire together diodes to get a single pulse from dual/COP setups.

TURBO TIME

Thinking of going Turbo for now as I have got most parts I need apart from the manifold and a few silicone pipes.

Going to remove my ITB's and fit my stock RWD intake minus the TVIS.

Plan to go back to MAP load instead of AlphaN (Need buy a MAP sensor obviously)
Can vems use the Coldstart injector to make cranking easier than the pain in the arse starting I got at the min with ITB's

Is the stock AE86 air temp sensor ok for boosted temps or am I best using another sensor? Is there any good ones that screw in stock location?

What is an easy pair of high Ohm injectors to buy for around or just over 200BHP?

Does any one have a good base map to start with using the following:

36-1 trigger
Coil packs
Cold start injector or a good tune without the need for one
x cc injectors

Granted my cam's aren't the most suited for boost but will have to do.

Just map the thing right and you´ll be able to start it from dead cold no problem.

you should use a open element air temp sensor.

no need for a base tune as your setup requires attention so that it will actually start nice from start.

It should be fairly straightforward to replace the MAP sensor in your ECU - you may even have a 250kpa sensor on yours - which means you wont have to do anything other than connect a pipe.

Will need to fit a MAP sensor as I ordered it without one.
Am I best gettting an external type MAP sensor like http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/sensor-p-89.html so the pipe work is as short as possible?
Does any one know of a open element temp sensor that will screw direct into the AE86 manifold? (Will have a measure of it later anyway)

What firmware am I best running the VEMS on, as at the min in on 1.0.73.
Something like the 1.1.27 or the newer x.6x version that VEMS Tune uses?

So once I have got all the calibration settings into the VEMS do I just generate a fuel table and tune from there? Will have a look around for a ignition map to start with as I'm running a N\A one which wont be suitable for boost.

You will be best to get an external one because it makes wiring and pipework easier - plus it means you dont have to modify your ECU and case.  On Matt's twin turbo I mounted the sensor on the firewall so there was a bit of tube - but not too much.
The standard VEMS temp sensors would be perfect as they have an M14 thread.
I'd stick with 1.0.73 or 1.0.78 for the moment, and move to the 1.1.6x when its ready for customer use, but YMMV and you might want to give one of the new versions a go.
Both your maps will be different as you're currently AlphaN and thats gonna change everything when you go SD.

Will get back to you on Friday about ordering some bits Rob prob looking at the following:
http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/pneumatic-valve-3way-p-85.html
http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/sensor-p-115.html
http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/sensor-p-89.html 300kpa version

Just building a new msq file for what I think will be close settings for the ECU, will post it up tomorrow night if any one want's to have a gander and see if the settings seem close enough to get me started.
Still in two minds if to run some form of a BOV or not prob recirc like the Bosch one, but not keen on BOV's tbh :S

You're best to order them straight off the webshop.
