Old? loom wire colours
« on: October 14, 2009, 04:20:45 am »
I realise that things have changed, but considering the gauge I helped set up last night was bough only months ago, why oh why, in all the world, use the same colour wires for two completely different things!!

Some of us are getting old and our eyes are not as good as they could be, not to mention the tight surroundings the pins are inserted into the connector housing (leaning over the engine under the bonnet and tucked up under the scuttle panel) The thin brown wire looks very similar to the thick brown wire, in fact, there isnt that much in it, lol.

Hour and a half later and we eventualy found the brown wires inverted, even after double checking and re inserting once.

Come on chaps, its not rocket science, how dificult is it to make each wire its own colour?

Like I said, I know things have moved on. I am just glad that the gauge was not damaged, the sensor we would not have been too fussed with.

All is well and ends well

For those who have a gauge with the loom containing two red wires and two brown wires for the lambda sensor connector, Check Check Check and get your mate to do the same, and then re check they are in the right pins. It might save a couple of hours wondering why the gauge reads only dashes and does not go through the warm up sequence ;)

As you know I am in complete agreement.  But the manufacturers do not and will not read feedback on this site.

So you'd be best to write this on the pages on the wiki: http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=AFreshTiny

If enough write their complaint they might, just might do something about it.
