2 ECU's, which to use?
« on: September 15, 2009, 02:08:22 am »
I was running a VEMS on my K4M Clio, which ive since taken out and am in the process of fitting a F4R. I bought some ITB's and the guy gave me another VEMS and loom as spares. These ECU's both came from Angelworks but the original i was using has green bans around it, the 2 multi-plugs, MAP senmsor output and serial OBD. The blue banded ECU has these 3  and another cable coing from the front. What is it? Why is it different to my original?

Aswell as that, the loom is different at the ECU end on each multi plug, why is that? ANy help would be appreciated as Im starting from scratch wiring wise and would think my original ECU and loom will be plugb and play, just curious as to wether the 2nd ECU I have is better in any way!

Thanks.

Can you post pictures of the differences.
They will have been ordered with different specs, pictures will tell us to tell you which ones they are

And what is exactly the different in the looms? Pics again please.

Between the two plugs you'll see a serial number, if you can let us have them I'll try and get the info.

What does all that mean in relation to my original? Would this be the better unit to use on the F4R or can I still use the 1416 ecu and 1600 loom, even if the loom looks completely different at the ecu end?

It means that unit 1419 was for a boosted engine with 4 ignition channels, the extra wire is for EGT.  Some of the wiring will have been moved around at the loom end because of the possible setup differences.  Stick with your original setup if you want to reduce the hassle.
